I recently graduated from Indiana University with my Masters in Social Work, and have a concentration in mental health and addictions.
I am a lifelong resident of South Bend. My husband and I have 3 children, ages 10, 10, and 15, who became a part of our family through adoption and in vitro fertilization, which gives me a unique viewpoint for couples who may be struggle in building their own families.
I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and taught in the South Bend schools for 5 years, before feeling called to help children and families on a more individual level. I started my social work career at the CASA Office of St. Joseph County, supervising and assisting volunteers who advocated for children who were part of the Department of Child Services. After 5 years of working for the CASA Office I moved on to a community mental health agency, and worked directly with families and children for 5 more years on their road to reunification. I am now a supervisor at the agency, where I help guide other bachelor’s level field staff serve families in our community. I am proud to be an open and affirming social worker, with experience in helping individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+.
I am trained in motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy, and continue to attend conferences and trainings to learn more therapeutic skills and approaches. I like to use a combination of those skills alongside mindfulness to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals.
