I received my master’s degree from Indiana University South Bend in clinical mental health counseling. I work primarily with folks aged 18 and older. I am passionate about empowering people to accept themselves as they are in order to build upon a solid foundation for growth. I believe you are the expert in your experiences, and my approach to therapy is to work alongside you to be the narrator of your story, assist in developing insights, increase expertise in tools already possessed, and foster curiosity and access to additional tools to cope.
I take an eclectic therapeutic approach, and my most consistently utilized methods have roots in existential and humanistic theories. If you are looking for a place to share your experiences without shame, I provide a space of understanding and unconditional positive regard. If you thrive in being challenged or crave accountability, I utilize confrontation to assist you in noticing discrepancies between your goals and current circumstances. If you like metaphors, I’ve got ‘em.
Some of the most profound growth I’ve gotten to witness has ranged from a session consisting largely of silence and tears, all the way to a life-changing breakthrough prompted by a meaningful song or topical internet meme. Anything in between is welcome. However you choose to share your story, it’s an honor (and one I do not take lightly) for me to hear it.
