My name is Alycia Straeter. I graduated from Indiana University South Bend’s Counseling and Human Services – Mental Health program with my Master of Science in Education. Prior to that I obtained my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Interpersonal Communications, also from IUSB.

I have experience working with kids, preteens, adolescents, adults and couples with my primary confidence being in couples and family work. My style tends towards solution-focused, person-centered and existential techniques but I often draw from others to be sure I’m best serving my clients.

I strive to strengthen family units, however you define them, by working anywhere from the unit itself to the individuals within it because I feel one of the hardest, most common, and most human parts of life is being able to identify what is important to us, understand why it is and then effectively communicate our wants, needs and passions to those around us in a healthy way, without sacrificing our boundaries and personal comfort.

Intentional listening, genuineness, unconditional positive regard and respect are a given, but however we manage it, if I can play even the smallest role in helping you become the person you want to be and thrive as you seek to be it, that is my ultimate goal for our therapeutic relationship.
